Visit Victoria Public Holidays to find out all you need to know about Public Holidays.

This website does not include the student-free days that are determined by each individual school. Every year, government-run public schools receive four days of student-free time. The first day of the term is always a day without students. The remaining three days are determined by your individual school.

We would love to include information about Private and Catholic Schools term dates. However, since each school determines its own dates, it is not possible for us to do so. These dates are used by private and Catholic schools as a guide. Their dates differ slightly from those of state-run public schools.

Making the Most of School Holidays in Victoria

School holidays in Victoria are a fantastic time for families to bond, for children to explore new interests, and for students to recharge. Here are some tips to help you make the most of these breaks:

  • Plan Ahead: Start planning early, especially for popular activities or destinations. Consider booking camps, workshops, and trips well in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • Balance Activities: Mix educational activities with fun. Museums, zoos, and nature walks offer great learning experiences in an enjoyable setting.
  • Stay Local: Explore what Victoria has to offer. From the beautiful beaches to the lush national parks, there’s plenty to do right on your doorstep.
  • Family Time: Use the holidays as an opportunity to spend quality time together. Plan family outings, game nights, or movie marathons.
  • Encourage reading: Visit your local library or set up a mini-book club at home. Reading can be an excellent way for children to relax and learn simultaneously.
  • Creative Projects: Encourage your children to start a creative project, be it art, writing, or building something. It’s a great way to stimulate their imagination.
  • Stay Active: Keep the kids active with sports clinics, swimming, or just playing in the park. Physical activity is vital for their health and well-being.

Remember, the most important part of school holidays is making memories, so whatever you plan, make sure it brings joy and relaxation to your family!
